TASS news agency reported that in a video message released to mark the second anniversary of Russia's annexation of four Ukrainian regions (Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson), Mr. Putin emphasized: "The truth is on our side! All the goals set will be achieved!".
He thanked the people of the four regions for their "perseverance, determination and courage", stating: "I thank you for passing on our spiritual values, historical memories, traditions and culture through many generations, and first of all, for your great love for the Fatherland, which is the greatest support for all of us".
Currently, the special military campaign that Russia launched in Ukraine since February 2022 has lasted more than 2 and a half years and shows no signs of ending soon.
In another development, on the same day, the Russian government announced that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay an official visit to Iran as the two countries are promoting a head-of-state meeting next month.
Specifically, Mr. Mishustin will hold talks with Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian and Vice President Mohamad Reza Aref. During the talks, the two sides will focus on discussing Russian-Iranian cooperation projects in the fields of transport, energy, industry and agriculture, aiming to promote economic, trade and cultural relations.
The meeting comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with fierce fighting in the Gaza Strip as well as on the Israel-Lebanon border and the risk of wider conflict.
