This is the last parade and march practice on a scale equivalent to an official event.
The rehearsal began with the traditional torch-lighting ceremony, lighting the pyre - a symbol of the aspirations of the Vietnamese people. The flame was handed over to Lieutenant General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Duc Soat, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, who had an outstanding achievement in shooting down 6 enemy aircraft, becoming one of the heroic pilots of the Vietnam People's Army to light the pyre.
Next, the flag-raising ceremony took place at Ba Dinh Square. At the same time, cannons fired at My Dinh Stadium. When the Marching Song resounded, people from all over the streets and wards of the capital stood solemnly to salute the flag.
According to the program, the rehearsal consists of two parts: Performing the Party and State's rituals and ceremonies and marching; with the participation of nearly 16,000 officers and soldiers, including 43 walking groups (26 Army groups, 17 Police groups) and foreign military groups, 18 standing groups, 14 military and special vehicles of the Army and Police.
After the morning rehearsal on August 30, the parade groups will officially participate in the parade at 6:30 a.m. on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square.
