The Prime Minister assigned the position of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs to Mr. Le Hoai Trung.

On the morning of August 30, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the announcement ceremony and handed over the decision to receive Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office, to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assigning the position of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and appointing Mr. Le Hoai Trung to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2025-2030 term.

Also attending were Mr. Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Commission; leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and agencies.

Handing over the decision to transfer and assign the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs to Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Mr. Le Hoai Trung is a senior leader of the Party, exemplary in political courage, moral qualities, strategic thinking, sharpness, and has been well-trained in the field of diplomacy.

During his 43 years of work, Mr. Le Hoai Trung is a leader with rich, extensive, and comprehensive experience in diplomacy.

In his position, Mr. Le Hoai Trung always demonstrates himself as an exemplary leader, dedicated, responsible, and determined in performing the duties and tasks assigned by the Party and State.

Notably, before holding the positions of Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission and Head of the Party Central Committee's Office, he had held positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Therefore, returning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also a reasonable assignment by the Politburo.

Assessing the achievements of the diplomatic sector, the Prime Minister said that in recent years, the diplomatic sector has achieved many outstanding results, made important contributions to the cause of national construction and development, becoming one of the bright spots in the country's overall achievements, affirming its role and position in the international arena.

Currently, Vietnam has diplomatic relations with 194 countries, expanding the framework of comprehensive strategic partnerships, strategic partnerships, and comprehensive partnerships with 38 countries; in the 17 signed FTAs, there are many new generation FTAs that bring efficiency in international integration and trade.

Emphasizing the important achievements of the diplomatic sector, the Prime Minister also highlighted the role of Mr. Bui Thanh Son as the head of the diplomatic sector since the beginning of his term, having held various positions and been closely associated with the diplomatic sector.

Analyzing the context of the world situation facing fundamental, rapid, unpredictable changes that have profound impacts on all activities of the country, the Prime Minister said that the requirements placed on the diplomatic sector, ministries and branches are increasingly high, especially in grasping the situation so that the Party and State are not passively surprised about strategies related to foreign affairs.

The Prime Minister hopes that Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will promote the pioneering, important and regular role of foreign affairs in the new era, to strive to complete the two 100-year strategic goals set by the 13th National Party Congress under the authority and responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, they will make practical contributions to expanding the country's development space, creating integration opportunities, and effectively serving the strategic breakthrough in the coming period.

The Prime Minister noted that diplomacy in the new era, along with the task of protecting the Fatherland, needs to take the lead in identifying and seizing opportunities and opportunities to grasp the situation; building a "comprehensive, modern, professional" diplomatic sector, on par with the region and reaching international standards, in which the key task is to continue training a team of diplomatic staff who are both red and professional, pioneering, courageous, united, responsible, creative, and innovative in their activities.

The Prime Minister believes that Mr. Le Hoai Trung, together with Mr. Bui Thanh Son, will continue to promote their experience, capacity, strengths, and extensive experience, and continue to devote themselves to the diplomacy of the Party and State.

Upon taking office, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung expressed his determination and efforts to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and Government; effectively implementing policies, promoting foreign affairs and international integration as an important and regular task; striving to promote the pioneering role in foreign affairs in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment; mobilizing resources to develop the country, enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena.
