The 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day in Hanoi is scheduled to take place on June 21 in Hanoi.

With the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, the 10th Anniversary of International Yoga Day in Hanoi is an affirmation of the connection between personal health and the natural environment, and the quality of life of the wider community.

The 10th anniversary of International Yoga Day in Hanoi also contributes to strengthening the friendship, cooperation and cultural exchange between Vietnam and India, while also wishing to spread a positive and peaceful lifestyle with the habit of practicing physical exercise and sports to balance the mind and relieve stress in life.

Previously, many localities across the country organized activities to celebrate International Yoga Day. In Hanoi, on June 15, nearly 2,000 yogis along with many guests, experts and yoga lovers from Hanoi and neighboring provinces participated in the Yoga Festival. This is the largest yoga event of the year in the capital, part of a series of activities in response to International Yoga Day.

The most impressive highlight of the program was the yoga performance and the formation of the Vietnam Map. Nearly 2,000 yogis in red flag and yellow star costumes together created a miniature, prominent image of the Vietnam Map.

Yoga originated in India and is a combination of physical postures, breathing techniques and meditation to improve both physical and mental health. The goal of Yoga is to balance and harmonize the body, mind and spirit, helping practitioners reduce stress, increase concentration, improve flexibility, strength and endurance.

Since 2014, at the request of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the United Nations General Assembly has chosen June 21 as International Yoga Day. The event aims to honor the benefits of Yoga to human health, encourage the practice of this subject worldwide to prevent diseases and help unite the community.
