TKV urgently overcomes consequences and quickly stabilizes production after the storm

Work to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 is being actively implemented by TKV and its member units with the goal of quickly stabilizing production.

In Quang Ninh, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) has 16 coal mining units, including 3 open-pit coal mining units and 13 underground coal mining units. The total number of employees of TKV units in Quang Ninh is about 80,000 people.

Therefore, when storm No. 3 (international name YAGI) made landfall in Quang Ninh on September 7, with the strongest wind near the storm center at level 12-13 (118-149km/h), gusting to level 16, it caused a lot of damage to TKV units.

Right from the warning information about the seriousness and the directive telegram from the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee, ministries, branches and Quang Ninh province on storm prevention and control No. 3, on September 4, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue (PCTT-TKCN) of TKV issued a telegram on proactively and focusedly responding to storm No. 3 and heavy rain.

At the same time, on September 5, the Group established working groups to inspect the prevention and response to storm No. 3 at the units; assigned Group leaders and staff of specialized departments to be on duty 24/7 at the Production Control Center in Quang Ninh and TKV Headquarters at No. 3 Duong Dinh Nghe (Hanoi) on September 6, 7, and 8 to direct and respond to storm No. 3 as well as inspect and direct at the units.

On the morning of September 8, immediately after the storm passed, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group Ngo Hoang Ngan directed the inspection and overcoming of the consequences of storm No. 3 at the units and soon stabilized production again....

TKV General Director Dang Thanh Hai, Deputy General Director Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy General Director Nguyen Huy Nam, along with specialized departments and the Group's Office, inspected and directed the work of overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 at Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, production units in Uong Bi - Dong Trieu, Ha Long and Cam Pha regions.

According to reports from the units, storm No. 3 caused very serious consequences, causing power outages from 10am on September 7, loss of communication or interruption, and traffic in some areas being paralyzed (the Vang Danh mine area lost power and communication completely, the road from Uong Bi to the mine was blocked by landslides, leaving only the road to Yen Tu to enter the mine which was quite far away).

The storm has blown off roofs of many factory and office buildings of construction sites and workshops; blown off coal tarpaulins; knocked down over 30 electric poles behind 6 kV transformer stations of open-pit mining units, damaged a number of power stations; increased water levels in some underground mine areas; many green areas, many areas of trees for renovating and restoring waste dumps were broken and felled...

The Group's leaders directed units to concentrate maximum human resources and equipment to urgently overcome the consequences of storm No. 3, continue to inspect and handle key areas, areas, and machinery affected by the storm.

Faced with widespread power outages, the Group's leaders continued to work with Quang Ninh Electricity to quickly restore power and requested underground and open-pit units to maintain generator systems and pumps to continuously drain mine water as well as ventilation work, prepare conditions, and mine safety and hygiene work so that when the grid is available, production can be resumed immediately and production can be quickly stabilized after the storm.
