Dr. Tran Tan Phuong has oriented and participated in the selection and creation of many ST fragrant rice varieties, is the co-author of ST5, ST13 rice varieties and the main author of ST16, ST17, ST18, ST19, ST20, ST purple, ST red fragrant rice varieties... In 2014, Dr. Phuong successfully selected and created two new specialty fragrant rice varieties, ST22 and ST23. Thanks to the high quality, the export price of ST rice has reached 900 USD/ton, double the price of regular exported rice. The results of the selection and creation of ST fragrant rice varieties have contributed to the development of the specialty rice area of Soc Trang province in 2014-2015 to nearly 100,000 hectares, of which ST rice accounts for 34% of the area.
