Thuy Linh enters round 3 of the 2025 World Badminton Championship

VHO - Vietnam's No. 1 tennis player - Nguyen Thuy Linh has excellently defeated her opponent from Scotland - Kisrty Gilmour to enter the 3rd round of the 2025 Badminton World Championship, taking place in France.

After eliminating former world number 1 Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand in round 1, Thuy Linh confidently entered the match against Kisrty Gilmour in round 2 this morning, August 18 (Vietnam time).

Thuy Linh (ranked 22nd in the world) is considered better than Kisrty Gilmour (ranked 31st in the world), but in the most recent meeting between the two players, Thuy Linh lost to her opponent.

In this rematch, Kisrty Gilmour started better in set 1 when he continuously led 6-2 and then 11-7.

But Thuy Linh came back strongly afterwards. The Vietnamese player equalized at 13-13 before leading 16-13 and going on to win 21-17.

Set 2 witnessed a point tug-of-war between the two players. Thuy Linh continuously took the lead 7-3, 14-12 but was equalized by her opponent.

When the score was tied at 20-20, Thuy Linh showed great concentration and courage to score 2 important points in a row, thereby winning 22-20.

Defeating Kisrty Gilmour 2-0 (21-17, 22-20), Thuy Linh won the right to enter the third round of women's singles and meet Chinese player, world No. 4 Chen Yu Fei.

This is considered a big challenge for Thuy Linh because in the two matches against the Chinese player, she lost both times.
