Thuy Linh is seeded No. 1 at the Vietnam Open 2025 Badminton Tournament

VHO - Ranked 18th in the world, tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh is seeded No. 1 in the women's singles event of the Vietnam Open 2025.

Thuy Linh is also the highest ranked player in the women's singles event and is also the only representative of Vietnam to participate in the main round of this event.

Thuy Linh is the leading candidate for the women's singles championship.

In round 1, Thuy Linh will meet Liang Ting Yu (Chinese Taipei, ranked 68th in the world ). Thuy Linh's most formidable opponent in this bracket is the 4th seed from India - Kaphyap (ranked 46th in the world).

Meanwhile, Thuy Linh's biggest opponent in this event is the second seed from Thailand - Lalinlar Chaiwan (ranked 43rd in the world).

Thuy Linh has been in good form recently, having just entered the third round of the 2025 Badminton World Championships in France. This is also the best achievement of the 1997-born player in this arena.

Thanks to this achievement, Thuy Linh has risen to 18th place in the world, the best position of her career.

At the press conference introducing the Vietnam Open 2025 Badminton Tournament taking place in Ho Chi Minh City this morning, September 4, the Organizing Committee said the tournament will take place from September 9 to 14 at Nguyen Du Gymnasium (Ho Chi Minh City).

The organizers said this year's tournament promises to be exciting as it brings together many strong players.

The tournament brings together 295 players (164 men and 131 women), from 35 countries and territories. Of these, host Vietnam competes with 20 players (6 men, 14 women).

At the tournament, players compete in 5 events: Men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

In the women's singles event, in addition to Thuy Linh, the host has another representative, Vu Thi Trang, competing from the qualifying round.

In the men's singles event, veteran tennis player Nguyen Tien Minh also competed from the qualifying round.

The two players participating in the main round of this event are Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat, in which Hai Dang is seeded number 7.
