iPhone 17 Pro revealed with more compact Dynamic Island

Dynamic Island is scaled down for the first time

Since Apple introduced Dynamic Island in 2022, the interactive interface cluster that replaces this “rabbit ear” has barely changed. Dynamic Island is a pill-shaped block that both houses Face ID hardware and has the ability to flexibly transform into a user interaction center.

According to a leak from an employee working at a screen protector manufacturing company, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will have a smaller Dynamic Island – only 1.5 cm wide instead of 2 cm like on the iPhone 16 Pro. This helps increase the display area and provide a more intuitive experience.

Sources say Apple used new metal materials and a flat optical lens system to shrink the Face ID cluster, reducing the space occupied while still maintaining security.

Big change in front design

The news of the miniature Dynamic Island comes at a time when the tech world is looking forward to the "Awe Dropping" event on September 9, where Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 17 series.

Combined with thinner screen bezels and a full-screen camera cluster on the back, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to bring a new look, creating a difference from the iPhone 16 Pro - which is considered to have less of a breakthrough in design.
