Facing an opponent who had held the number 2 position in the women's singles world for many years, Nguyen Thuy Linh started the first set quite confidently and had equal scores. However, towards the end, Chen Yu Fei showed her mettle, dominating with fast and accurate attacks, ending the first set with a score of 21-10.
The situation was not any better in set 2 when Chen Yu Fei maintained her high form with unpredictable shots and sharp finishes. The Chinese player closed set 2 with a score of 21-9, ending the match after 32 minutes of play. Nguyen Thuy Linh accepted to stop in round 3, which is also the best result that a Vietnamese athlete has achieved at this year's tournament.
Before that, other Vietnamese players also left the tournament early. Vu Thi Trang stopped in the second round of the women's singles. The men's doubles pair Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh also could not go far after losing in the second round. Meanwhile, Le Duc Phat and Nguyen Hai Dang were eliminated right after their first match.
The 2025 World Championships have been a memorable journey for Vietnamese Badminton - where young players have accumulated valuable experience, gradually asserting their position in the international arena. Although they could not advance further, the athletes' continuous efforts and resilient fighting spirit are an important foundation for the future development of the country's Badminton.
