Carlos Alcaraz showed great character when he defeated Novak Djokovic with a convincing score of 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 to win the right to play in the final of the US Open. This victory not only affirmed Alcaraz's position, but also helped him get closer to the second Grand Slam title of his career.

After the match, the focus was on Alcaraz's candid sharing about his performance and emotions. Alcaraz admitted that this was not his best match, but it was one of his most memorable victories.

“It's great to be in the final again and it means a lot to me,” Alcaraz said in an on-court interview.

“To be honest, today was not my best performance in this tournament. I made more mistakes than usual. But the important thing is that I fought until the end and never gave up. I kept my composure and took advantage of the important moments,” Alcaraz said.

When asked about the key to the Spaniard’s victory, Alcaraz highlighted two key factors: serve and fitness: “I served very well, that was very important. Especially at decisive moments, my serve helped me get out of difficult situations.”

Despite the quick finish, Alcaraz said it was still a physically intense match. The world No. 2 was proud of his ability to maintain his stamina: “It was a very physical match and I was well prepared for that. I tried to move around, put pressure on my opponent and not give him any time to rest. That worked.”

With this victory, Alcaraz reached his third consecutive Grand Slam final and his eighth consecutive in all competitions. Remarkably, he reached the final in New York without dropping a set.

“It’s a proud achievement and I want to keep it,” Alcaraz said. “But the final will be a completely different challenge. No matter who my opponent is, I will have to play at 100 percent and not make mistakes. I am ready for the final battle,” Alcaraz said.

Alcaraz's opponent in the final will be the winner of the match between Italian Jannik Sinner and Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime.
