Reporting at the award ceremony, Colonel Tran Tien Hien, Commander of the Da Nang City Border Guard Command, said that at around 9:00 a.m. on August 15 in Hai Van Ward (Da Nang City), the Quang Tri Province Border Guard Command in coordination with the Central Region Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force (under the Drug and Crime Prevention Department); Da Nang City Border Guard Command successfully dismantled a transnational drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam.
The authorities coordinated to arrest two suspects NTL (residing in Hoa Xuan ward) and D.BHC (residing in An Khe ward, both in Da Nang city) for illegally transporting drugs.
The seized evidence included 295.5 kg of various drugs (including 50 heroin bars, 80 ketamine packages and 180 methamphetamine packages), 2 cars and related evidence and documents. Searching the residence of suspect NTL, the forces seized 2 more guns (1 AK gun, 1 homemade gun) and 7 bullets.
Currently, the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command is coordinating with the Da Nang City Border Guard Command to continue to investigate, verify, expand and complete procedures according to the provisions of law.
At the award ceremony, Da Nang City leaders awarded 200 million VND, including 100 million VND for groups and 100 million VND for individuals with outstanding achievements in the recent project.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Luong Nguyen Minh Triet praised the excellent achievements and absolute safety of the three border forces of Da Nang City, Quang Tri Province and the Central Region Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force, contributing to maintaining peace for the people.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, from 2024 to present, the Border Guard forces of the two provinces of Quang Nam and Da Nang have regularly discovered large drug cases involving hundreds of kilograms, but each case has caught more than the previous one, showing a very complicated picture.
In the context of the merger of two provinces and cities, Da Nang City has a long mountainous border with Laos, which is very difficult to cover, so subjects take advantage of it as a drug transit hub, continuing to pose great risks and challenges that cannot be ignored by the anti-drug force.
Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet shared that if 300kg of drugs are not prevented and smuggled into society, the consequences will be very serious, seriously affecting people's lives and social security and order. Therefore, the forces need to focus on the fight more, especially when switching to a 2-level local government model, not allowing subjects to take advantage of loopholes to operate. In addition, it is necessary to propagate that each citizen is a fortress to self-detect and prevent crime, and fight crime together with the authorities.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City also agreed with the proposal of the border guard force on investing in vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency for the border guard force in their task of solving crimes.
