Prime Minister directs implementation of citizen protection work, supports families of victims of 4 Vietnamese tourists' deaths in Thailand

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the Ministry of Public Security to coordinate the investigation and clarify the case at the request of the Thai side, and provide information about the victims' relatives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out citizen protection work.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 69/CD-TTg on the case of 4 Vietnamese people dying in Bangkok, Thailand. The dispatch was sent to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs , Public Security; and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Thailand.

The dispatch stated: On July 16, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok, the police Thailand 6 people have been detected died, including 4 Vietnamese citizens and 2 people of Vietnamese origin, suspected of being poisoned. Currently, Thai authorities continue to investigate and clarify the case.

The Prime Minister requested:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs closely coordinates with the Thai side in the process of investigating and clarifying the incident, implementing measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens; proactively handling and making recommendations on foreign affairs issues to the Thai side; promptly providing complete and objective information about the incident to the press and public opinion.

The Ministry of Public Security coordinated to investigate and clarify the case at the request of the Thai side, providing information about the victims' relatives to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to carry out the work. Citizen protection

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand directed the Embassy to closely monitor the case, promptly report on the investigation and local public opinion; carry out citizen protection work, visit, guide and support the victim's family with funeral-related procedures according to regulations.
