According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade , within the framework of negotiations on the bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the US, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien had a negotiation session simultaneously with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer online at 9:00 p.m. on June 19.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said the negotiation session took place in an open, goodwill and constructive atmosphere. The ministers discussed solutions and directions for handling the main outstanding issues in the negotiations between the two countries. Minister Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals made by Minister Lutnick and Ambassador Greer to promote the negotiation process.
The Minister continued to ask the US to consider areas of interest to Vietnam, including reciprocal tax policies and market access for some of Vietnam's key export groups.
In addition, the Minister emphasized Vietnam's view on wanting to work with the US to build harmonious, practical rules of origin that are suitable for the characteristics of the global supply chain, ensuring non-discrimination and creating favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries.

On the US side, Minister Lutnick and Ambassador Greer appreciated Vietnam's efforts and goodwill in handling issues of US concern, and said that these will help the US consider a reciprocal tax policy appropriate to Vietnam's specific conditions and circumstances.
Commerce Secretary Lutnick and Ambassador Greer both affirmed the US's desire and determination to negotiate with Vietnam towards an agreement that suits the interests of both countries.
Ambassador Greer said that the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) will soon complete and send back to Vietnam the necessary documents so that the two sides can focus on discussions towards results that are in line with the interests of Vietnam and the United States.
Previously, from June 9 to June 12, in Washington DC (USA), Vietnam and the US held the third round of tariff negotiations. Vietnam and the US have made much progress, narrowing the gap in all areas of negotiation.
