Latest information on the case of a father suspected of pouring gasoline on his two children and ex-wife and burning them

(Dan Tri) - According to the victim, before the heartbreaking incident that left the entire family severely burned, the father who is suspected of pouring gasoline on his two children and ex-wife had repeatedly abused his family out of jealousy.

The City Children's Hospital (HCMC) recently sent a document to the People's Committee and Police of Duc Hoa Commune ( Tay Ninh Province) and the authorities of Tan Nhut Commune (HCMC) to inform about patients suspected of being abused and being treated there.

Accordingly, on August 17, the City Children's Hospital received two children who are biological sisters in the family (permanent residence in Duc Hoa commune, Tay Ninh province) with full-body burns due to burning gasoline.

According to the victims, the children’s father is a truck driver, the mother is a factory worker, and the two divorced in July and are not living together. At around 6 a.m. on August 17, the father came to the room where the mother and children were staying, bringing a can of gasoline.

The father then poured gasoline on his two children, his ex-wife and around the bedroom on the first floor, then used a lighter to set it on fire.

After the incident, the youngest child was taken by relatives straight to the City Children's Hospital, while the older sister was taken to a frontline medical facility for first aid, then transferred to the City Children's Hospital with accompanying medical staff at 9:15 a.m. on August 17.

According to the victim, before the incident, the father repeatedly abused his family out of jealousy and had intended to burn down the house in April.

At the City Children's Hospital, doctors diagnosed the older sister, CNQG (13 years old), with hypovolemic shock, 2nd-3rd degree burns covering 45% of the head, face, thighs, arms, and legs due to gasoline burning, and were monitoring for sepsis and Silverman syndrome (complex chest wall deformity).

The younger brother named CNBL (5 years old) was recorded as having hypovolemic shock, 2nd-3rd degree burns covering 70-75% of the body due to gasoline fire, monitored for respiratory burns, sepsis, and Silverman syndrome.

Patients will continue to receive intensive treatment in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

"These are two cases of burns caused by gasoline, suspected to be caused by violence. The hospital informs the authorities for legal consideration," said the City Children's Hospital.

At Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC), a source from Dan Tri reporter said that patient NTH (32 years old, the mother in the incident) was transferred to a regular room, after 9 days in the Intensive Care Room of the Burn - Plastic Surgery Department.

Doctors said the patient's condition is still quite serious. It is expected that Ms. H. will continue to undergo necrosis removal surgery.

Previously on August 17, Cho Ray Hospital received two cases related to a serious fire that occurred in Duc Hoa commune, Tay Ninh province, early in the morning of the same day.

Of which, Ms. NTH was hospitalized with a diagnosis of 74% second-third degree gasoline burns, 59% third degree all over the body, burn shock, and respiratory burns. Mr. TKĐ. (37 years old, the person suspected of starting the fire) was diagnosed with 77% second-third degree gasoline burns, 50% third degree all over the body, burn shock, and respiratory burns.

Faced with the above situation, doctors quickly took the two patients to the Intensive Care Unit, intubated them, administered fluids, electrolytes, administered antibiotics, and provided intensive wound care... Mr. D. received intensive treatment for about a week before passing away.
