“I am the ocean, the lifeblood of this planet. I have existed for billions of years regulating the climate, providing oxygen to the earth and the environment, nurturing millions of creatures. Every beat of my life is a blood vessel that regulates life. But today I am seriously damaged."

These emotional opening lines helped Nguyen Ngoc Bao Anh become one of two students who won the first prize at the provincial level at the 54th UPU International Letter Writing Competition with the theme: "Imagine you are the ocean. Write a letter explaining why and how people need to protect you."

Nguyen Ngoc Bao Anh shared: “I am very proud to have won first prize in the contest. This will also be a motivation for me to try harder in my studies, so that when I grow up I can do many meaningful things, contributing to protecting nature and the living environment.”

Early on, Nguyen Ngoc Bao Anh showed a talent for writing. During her 5 years in primary school, Nguyen Ngoc Bao Anh was always trained by her teachers to become more mature in each page she wrote. In addition, Bao Anh is also an active and responsible class monitor, regularly participating in environmental protection activities. She especially loves scientific and technical creativity and the subjects of Nature and Society.

Transforming into the ocean, in her letter, Bao Anh wrote: “Plastic waste is flooding my heart, toxic chemicals from factories and industrial zones are gradually poisoning my purity. Industrial fishing boats with destructive trawl nets have depleted fish, destroyed coral reefs - the home of countless marine species. And climate change, causing sea temperatures to rise, acidifying the ocean, threatening my inherent balance”... Nguyen Ngoc Bao Anh's letter surpassed more than 126 thousand entries from across the province to win the highest prize. For Bao Anh, the UPU International Letter Writing Competition is not only a creative playground, but also a place for her to express her opinions, social responsibility and aspiration to build a better world .

“What I want is to contribute my voice to awaken the love of nature and sense of responsibility for the marine environment in everyone. I dream of becoming a teacher in the future to be able to spread the message of environmental protection to my students,” Bao Anh added.

Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong, homeroom teacher of class 5A and also a Literature teacher at Lam Son Town Primary School, shared: “Bao Anh is a very talented student. Her letter stands out not only for its profound content and tight structure, but also for its sincere feelings and humane messages. Through each page, she has expressed her understanding, love of nature and sense of responsibility towards the marine environment.”

The UPU International Letter Writing Competition is not only a creative playground for students, but also a place for them to express their thoughts, sense of responsibility and aspiration to build a better world, a place where dreams can take flight, a message to generations of global citizens about the sense of responsibility, awareness of protecting nature and the living environment, for a better future.
