After the movie "Anonymous" was released in 2023, Quoc Truong has not appeared on the big screen. In this comeback, the character he plays is a horror writer, intelligent, brave but mysterious.

This is a villain role and the character is older than Mac Van Khoa. This actor said he wanted to change himself, take on a challenging role, different from his forte, to bring something interesting and surprising to the audience.
Meanwhile, singer-actor Thanh Duy also attracted attention when he returned to the big screen after a 7-year absence. The character Hung in the film "Under the Lake" - directed by Tran Huu Tan, released in theaters from June 6 - is Thanh Duy's third role after "Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere" (directed by Nguyen Hoang Diep) and "Dream Man - Deadly Friendship" (directed by Roland Nguyen). In "Under the Lake", Hung is a makeup artist during the day and a drag queen at a nightclub at night.
Thanh Duy confided that since he was a child, he loved watching movies and being an actor because he found acting very interesting. "Actors can live a different life than the character, helping the artist's life to always be full of color and freshness. The character Hung in "Under the Lake" is a man of few words, has a deep inner life and hides many wounds... This is a very interesting and challenging role for me" - Thanh Duy revealed.
Expect a breakthrough
The fact that some actors accept to change their appearance and refuse their forte roles shows their professionalism and dedication to art. This also helps filmmakers have a different view of the actors, and can discover their hidden potential to exploit, instead of imposing familiar roles on them, which can easily bore the audience.
If an actor does not have the courage to step out of his comfort zone and prove that he can transform into another character, he will not be able to bring a fresh image to the big screen. This "renewal" requires patience and effort from the actor after his return.
Mac Van Khoa confided: "I was born with a "strange" face, just by expressing a little too much I can make people laugh. This really makes it difficult for me to play other types of roles, especially villains, like Danh in "Ut Lan: Oan linh tro cu". Therefore, I try to act through my eyes, dialogue... to bring persuasiveness to the character".
Thanh Duy also put in no less effort for his drag queen performance scene in "Under the Lake". "I begged the director to let me be alone on stage, to observe and imagine. Then, I immersed myself in the role..." - Thanh Duy recalled.
