VTC NewsVTC News18/12/2024

175cm3 motorbikes, also known as 175cc motorbikes, are large displacement motorbikes, commonly used in our country. What license is required for a motorbike with a cylinder capacity of 175cm3?

According to Article 59 of the Road Traffic Law 2008, two-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of 175cm3 or more will require the driver to have a Class A2 driver's license. Therefore, with a capacity of 175cm3, the user must have a Class A2 driver's license to ensure legality when participating in traffic.

In addition, pursuant to Clause 1, Article 57 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 (effective from January 1, 2025), a Class A driving license is issued to drivers of 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of over 125 cm3.

This shows that vehicles with a capacity greater than 125cm3 require a special driving license to ensure safety while participating in traffic.

When the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety 2024 takes effect from January 1, 2025, those who currently own vehicles with a capacity of 175cm3 will have 2 options. They can continue to use their driving license according to the expiration date stated on the current license or change and reissue a new driving license to comply with the new regulations.

Thus, currently, vehicles with a cylinder capacity of 175cm3 require the driver to have a Class A2 driver's license. When the Law on Traffic Order and Safety 2024 takes effect from January 1, 2025, vehicle users will have the opportunity to update their driver's licenses to comply with the new regulations.

Also according to the new law (Article 57), driver's licenses of all classes are allowed to drive the following specific types of vehicles.

Class A1 license is issued to drivers of motorbikes with engine capacity under 125cc or electric motor capacity up to 11 kW.

Class A2 driving license is granted to drivers of 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of over 125 cc or an electric motor capacity of over 11 kW and types of vehicles specified for class A1 driving license.

Class A3 and Class A4 driving licenses will no longer be issued to current users.
