In the changing context of modern life, visual arts also reflect more diverse and rich interests. Along with the diverse changes of society, the flow of traditional culture needs to be respected and nurtured.
"Five Shapes 2" introduces 25 works by artists: Bui Hai Nam, Truong Thinh, Nguyen Duc Phuong, Pham Duy Quynh and architect Tran Minh Tuan. The works are vibrations of nature, culture and Vietnamese people, beauties that are both familiar and sometimes forgotten in the hasty flow of today's life.
The themes of the works refer to 5 typical shapes corresponding to each element: metal, wood, water, fire, earth, with their own characteristics and meanings. Metal is round, representing fullness and balance; water is wavy and curved, representing flow and change; wood is rectangular and long, representing development and progress; fire is triangular, representing dynamism and enthusiasm; earth is square, representing stability and sustainability.
Deputy Director of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy, Nguyen Lien Huong, said that the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy is a special cultural and historical space, symbolizing the nation's tradition of studiousness and respect for teachers. "We always strive to turn the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy into an open cultural space, where the quintessence of the past meets the creativity of the present. The exhibition Ngu Hinh 2, where we experiment with new ways of expressing folk culture through the perspective of visual arts, is one such activity."
The exhibition lasts until August 13.
