More schools announce minimum scores, some "hot" majors are surprisingly low

(Dan Tri) - On the afternoon of July 23, many top schools in Ho Chi Minh City announced the minimum admission scores for 2025. Many popular majors have surprisingly low and reduced minimum scores.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) has just announced the minimum admission score based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025 (method 2) and the admission method based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam (method 3) and other methods using high school study results.

For the admission method based on the results of the school's high school graduation exam, there are two score levels of 18 and 20, a decrease compared to 2024 at 18.5 to 21 points.

Many "hot" majors with high admission scores at this school in previous years such as journalism, multimedia, psychology... this year have a minimum score of only 20 points.

Especially in journalism, for many years this school has had a standard score of 9.5/subject to be admitted.

At Ho Chi Minh City Banking University , the method of considering high school graduation exam scores in 2025 has a minimum admission score of 18.

This score applies to all majors/programs using the 2025 high school graduation exam results method (for English language majors in special programs and standard regular programs, the English subject is multiplied by a factor of 2 and converted to a 30-point scale). At the same time, candidates must not have any subject in the admission combination with a score of 1.0 or lower.

The International Bachelor's program uses the admission method of reviewing transcripts and interviews, not the method of considering high school graduation exam results in 2025.

For the comprehensive admission method of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City:

+ For candidates graduating in 2024: Candidates must have an average GPA of 6.5 or higher in semester 2, grade 11 and semester 1, semester 2, grade 12;

+ For candidates graduating in 2025: The study results of semester 2, grade 11 and semester 1, semester 2, grade 12 must be good or higher.

Admission score is the converted score according to the subject combination of 3 semesters plus the converted score according to other criteria (if any) and the total converted priority score (if any). Priority score for subjects and regions is converted according to a 150-point scale.

Converted score according to other criteria = Converted score of international English certificate + Converted score of excellent student selection exam + Converted score of specialized/gifted school + Converted score of excellent student classification. The threshold score to ensure input quality is 75 (on a scale of 150) applied to all training majors/programs that are selected based on this method.

For the VSAT exam score consideration method in 2025, the floor score is 225 (450-point scale) applied to all majors/training programs that are selected based on this method.

At Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology , the minimum score applied to the three methods of high school transcript scores, 12th grade high school academic results, and Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores are 15 points, 18 points, and 500/1200 points, respectively.

The above scores apply to all 23 full-time undergraduate training programs of the school.
