Preserve and spread the tradition of gratitude
As a locality with 6,074 meritorious people and 3,606 policy households, Dien Ban Dong ward always considers gratitude work as a regular task, a core value that needs to be preserved through many specific activities.
According to Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Dien Ban Dong Ward, Tran Thi Thanh Van, during the 2020-2025 term, before the merger, localities had synchronously implemented many policies to support people with meritorious services according to regulations of the Central Government and Quang Nam province (old), with a focus on the housing support program.
From mobilized resources, hundreds of shelters were built and repaired for policy families: Dien Ngoc ward (old) had 64 cases supported; Dien Duong ward (old) built and repaired 292 houses with a total cost of 6 billion VND; Dien Nam Bac ward (old) built and repaired 90 houses with a total cost of nearly 2.2 billion VND; Dien Nam Trung ward (old) built and repaired 78 houses with a total cost of more than 2.8 billion VND and Dien Nam Dong ward (old) built and repaired 100 houses with a cost of nearly 2.9 billion VND.
Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward, Secretary of the ward Youth Union Ngo Thi Tu Trinh said that local youth actively participate in meaningful activities to educate about traditions such as decorating martyrs’ cemeteries, taking care of heroic Vietnamese mothers, lighting candles at historical sites. These small but regular and meticulous actions contribute to highlighting the morality of “remembering the source of water when drinking”.
Effectiveness in social security policy
Not only stopping at gratitude work, Dien Ban Dong ward also comprehensively implements social security policies, with the consistent goal of improving the quality of life for the people.
The development picture in the areas in the locality is clearly shown through specific figures: the average income per capita in Dien Ngoc ward (old) reached 75 million VND/year; Dien Duong ward (old) reached 72.3 million VND/year; Dien Nam Bac ward (old) reached 73 million VND/year; Dien Nam Trung ward (old) and Dien Nam Dong ward (old) both exceeded 70 million VND/year.
These results are the result of the effective management of local authorities and the consensus and efforts of the people.
The ward also pays attention to vulnerable groups in society such as poor households due to illness, old age, loss of labor capacity...; proactively reviews and updates the actual situation of each household to propose appropriate support plans such as health policies, social insurance, livelihood support, and community care.
Poverty reduction programs are integrated with sustainable social security solutions, helping people overcome difficulties and gradually stabilize their lives. The goal is that by 2030, Dien Ban Dong will have no more poor households according to multidimensional standards.
The highlight of social security work in Dien Ban Dong is the active and effective participation of union members and youth.
During the past term, the Ward Youth Union organized many programs with profound humanitarian meaning such as: "One heart", "For the smiles of the team members", pot of love porridge... In which, the program "For the smiles of the team members" supported more than 200 million VND for students in difficult circumstances.
The art night raises funds to help poor patients, and the monthly free porridge distribution at the hospital brings in 5-7 million VND each month, organized and mobilized by union members.
These activities demonstrate the spirit of "helping each other", spreading the sense of responsibility and living beautifully for the community of the youth of Dien Ban Dong ward.
Sharing about the orientation in the coming time, Chairman of Dien Ban Dong Ward People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Vy affirmed that caring for policy families is a good tradition preserved from the old wards before the merger.
Dien Ban Dong Ward today continues to inherit and promote profound human values, considering them the foundation for building a sustainable and humane locality.
In the coming term, Dien Ban Dong strives to support 100% of policy households with degraded houses to be repaired or rebuilt; continue to invest in renovating martyrs' cemeteries and memorial houses; focus on job creation, especially for young people and demobilized soldiers; promote poverty reduction, gradually improve the quality of social security in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.
