On August 21, the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province signed a cooperation agreement with TORmem Company (USA) to promote innovation, develop the semiconductor industry and AI. Accordingly, TORmem will support Gia Lai in building a large-scale data center (hyperscale), deploy AI applications, develop a prototype semiconductor chip factory and promote investment in the field of information technology.
In addition, TORmem is committed to connecting Gia Lai with experts, research centers and leading technology enterprises in the US and many other countries; at the same time, organizing training and improving human resources capacity in AI and semiconductor design. In the first phase, the enterprise will advise on investment in building a semiconductor laboratory at Quy Nhon University and study the possibility of building a production facility and R&D center right in Gia Lai.

Mr. Nguyen An Thao - Founder and CEO of TORmem - said that the company expects long-term cooperation with Gia Lai in research, technology transfer and building value chains related to semiconductors and AI.
Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, emphasized: "Gia Lai prioritizes attracting projects on semiconductors, AI, digital technology and big data; at the same time, strengthens cooperation with universities and enterprises to train high-quality human resources. We expect TORmem to coordinate with Quy Nhon University to implement training programs on semiconductors and AI, considering this an important foundation for the long-term development of the province."
According to the orientation to 2030, Gia Lai will focus on implementing four key projects including: developing the semiconductor and AI industry; ensuring network safety and security; training human resources and developing STEM education; building a concentrated information technology park. The signing with TORmem is considered an important first step, creating momentum for Gia Lai to affirm its pioneering position in high technology in the Central Highlands.
