According to a leak on Weibo from the Digital Chat Station account, the iPhone 17e model will have an important change in design, switching from a notch screen to Dynamic Island, with an A19 chip. This is considered a significant upgrade compared to the iPhone 16e, which uses an A18 chip and still retains the notch design similar to the iPhone 13 and 14.
The source said that the iPhone 17e will continue to use a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a 60 Hz refresh rate, a 12 MP front camera, Face ID, and a 48 MP rear camera. The biggest highlight of the product is still the selling price, expected to be much lower than other iPhone 17 models.
While the iPhone 16e is based on the iPhone 14 design, the iPhone 17e will likely inherit the appearance of the iPhone 15 launched in 2023, with more rounded edges. This gives Apple's low-cost line a more modern look, while still possessing good performance.
Other reputable sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo, Bloomberg 's Mark Gurman and The Elec also confirmed that the iPhone 17e is on schedule and will launch in early 2026. This is the time Apple often chooses to launch low-cost smartphones.
Digital Chat Station is a highly reliable account when it comes to leaking information about Apple. Previously, this source accurately revealed that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will use a smaller 48 MP sensor than the Pro version, as well as accurately described the screen design of the iPhone 12.
If this information is correct, the iPhone 17e will become the first model in the low-cost line to own Dynamic Island and a new design, helping Apple expand the options for the mass customer group. Meanwhile, the company still maintains a clear hierarchy with the high-end Pro versions.
