Establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council

Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command Vu Van Dien is the Standing Vice Chairman of the Council. Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Mai Hoang is the Vice Chairman of the Council. Council members are leaders of a number of departments, branches, and socio- political organizations of the city.

The Council is responsible for assisting the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in directing, inspecting, and urging agencies and organizations to carry out military service registration and manage citizens of military service age, prepare citizens for active service, and plan to select and call citizens to join the army and perform their obligations to join the People's Public Security. At the same time, select citizens to join the army and perform their obligations to join the People's Public Security; train non-commissioned officers and reserve soldiers and implement policies and regimes for non-commissioned officers and soldiers.

In addition, report to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to decide on citizens who are called for military service, temporarily defer military service, exempt from military service, and perform military service in the People's Public Security. Direct the People's Committees at the commune level to implement the provisions of the law on military service and direct and guide the activities of the Military Service Council at the commune level.
