Thanh Hoa: While wading across a stream, a mother and child were swept away by floodwaters.

On the evening of August 20, Mr. Tran Van Thang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Trung Ly commune (Thanh Hoa province) said that local authorities and forces are trying to search for the child swept away by the flood.

According to initial information, at around 2:30 p.m. on August 20, Ms. Thao Thi D. (born in 1974) and her daughter Sung Thi S. (born in 2014, both residing in Kham 1 village, Trung Ly commune) moved across Cha Lam stream in Kham 2 village.

At this time, a sudden flood of water swept away the mother and child. As soon as the incident was discovered, the locals reported it to the local authorities and the village management board.

After a period of searching, at about 3:20 p.m. on August 20, Ms. D's body was found, about 500 meters from the accident site. S. is currently missing.

Mr. Thang added that due to the darkness and complex terrain, the search for S. is facing difficulties, but the forces are still trying to find him.
