Thai Nguyen flooded many places due to prolonged heavy rain

From the night of June 20 to the early morning of June 21, Thai Nguyen province suffered a rare heavy rain that lasted for many hours. The measurement point at Phuc Triu station (Thai Nguyen city) reached 742.7mm, a record in many years; other stations such as Nui Coc, Minh Lap, Binh Son, Yen Lac also recorded heavy rainfall exceeding 250mm.

Water levels in rivers such as Cau River, Cong River and reservoirs rose dramatically. Ghenh Che Lake (Song Cong City) exceeded the normal water level by 1.56m; Dong Cau Lake (Dong Hy District) exceeded 0.3m... many residential areas were deeply flooded, especially in Thai Nguyen City, Pho Yen and Song Cong.

In Thai Nguyen city, dozens of wards, communes and many major roads such as Luong Ngoc Quyen street, the gate area of ​​Thai Nguyen Central Hospital, Hoang Van Thu street, Xuong Rong lake area... were deeply flooded. Some areas were isolated and the water rose rapidly.

In the early morning of June 21, leaders of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, together with representatives of the Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command and the Department of Agriculture and Environment directly inspected the situation and directed response in many places.

The provincial armed forces mobilized 1,900 officers and soldiers, 12 motorboats, and 16 cars to assist in evacuating people in deeply flooded areas, setting up warning posts, and directing traffic at deeply flooded areas, ensuring people's safety.

Not being passive in the face of extreme weather developments, Thai Nguyen province has promptly issued many telegrams and documents directing natural disaster response. Plans for dike protection, dam protection, and evacuation of people... have all been developed and updated regularly.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment also proactively issued a close directive document right before the heavy rain occurred.

Up to now, Thai Nguyen province has not had any human damage caused by rain, floods and inundation.

Localities are continuing to review, count damage and update flood developments, ready to respond if the weather continues to worsen.

Heavy rain is forecast to continue in the next 3 to 6 hours, especially flooding in low-lying areas. The risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding continues to be warned at a high level.
