Independence Day of new HCMC citizens

This year’s National Day, September 2nd, is very special for people in Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau (old) as they become new citizens of Ho Chi Minh City. Some people liken this to a “reunion Tet” when they come home together and enjoy the best cultural and artistic products during the holiday, without having to go far.

Sharing with Tien Phong newspaper reporters, people in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) said that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 this year, they felt the difference when becoming new citizens of Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the first year that Mr. Truong Chan Sang, a resident of Binh Duong (formerly) has celebrated Independence Day on September 2nd, as a citizen of Ho Chi Minh City, the most populous city in the country. He feels joyful and excited with the series of celebratory activities. National concerts, check-in areas with bright colors of red flags with yellow stars fluttering.

“I am a resident of Binh Duong (old), before on holidays, I always went to Ho Chi Minh City to enjoy cultural activities, watch high-altitude fireworks. However, this year is different, the activities are arranged in many places. For the first time, Binh Duong (old) residents do not need to go far, but can still watch high-altitude fireworks on National Day, September 2. I feel proud, because I do not need to go far like before, but can still fully enjoy the unique art of fireworks, along with many activities worthy of the megacity" - Mr. Sang shared.

Mr. Truong Chan Sang shared that this year's National Day is very special, as he became a new citizen of Ho Chi Minh City.

In recent days, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung (living in Chanh Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City) clearly felt the change after Binh Duong merged with Ho Chi Minh City. He said: "To me, this is not only an independence festival, but also a reunion festival, when citizens of three provinces and cities come together as one family."

As a foreign investor who has lived and worked in Binh Duong (old) for nearly 15 years, Mr. Hsieh Mao Shan - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asia Italian Door Industry Co., Ltd. (Taiwan - China), when becoming a new enterprise in Ho Chi Minh City.

“After investing and working here, I also fell in love with Vietnam,” said Mr. Hsieh Mao Shan. He added that to encourage all employees, the company decided to reward each worker 700,000 VND; technical staff 1.2 million VND/person; team leaders 1.6 million VND/person; office staff 1.8 million VND, with an estimated cost of nearly 2 billion VND for about 1,300 employees.

Similar to the people of Binh Duong (old), on the occasion of National Day September 2 this year, the people of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) celebrated the holiday in the role and position of the people of the new Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Le Son, a resident of Vung Tau Ward (HCMC), said that on the occasion of the National Day holiday of September 2, Thuy Van Square will be put into operation, a long-awaited event not only for tourists but also for local residents. According to Mr. Son, Bai Sau is the most attractive beach area in the South, but for the past time, this place has been temporarily closed for renovation and new construction.

“Many items will be inaugurated and put into use on September 2 this year, such as Tam Thang Tower, sea view house, rest house, fountain and coastal park system. Thuy Van Square, when put into operation, will be an important highlight of the new Ho Chi Minh City,” said Mr. Son.

On this occasion, Thuy Mai and Thanh Tu chose to “travel” the inner city by motorbike. The group departed on September 29 by ferry from Vung Tau ward to Can Gio commune, visited the Sac Forest War Zone and experienced the life of the people of Thanh An island commune. After that, the group will go through Sac Forest, stop at a friend’s house in Saigon ward and continue to experience the night atmosphere at Nguyen Hue walking street.

“According to the plan, we will go to many places in the new Ho Chi Minh City, including Binh Duong (old). This is an opportunity to experience and learn more about our new homeland” – Thuy Mai shared.

A representative of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City said that many wards and communes in Ba Ria - Vung Tau (old) were chosen as one of the locations to organize a series of large-scale cultural and artistic activities. The highlight of which is a large-scale art night called "In harmony with the country" which will take place at Thuy Van Square in the Back Beach area, Vung Tau Ward. The art night will take place at 7:30 p.m. on September 2 and will be broadcast live on television, connecting with locations such as Nguyen Hue walking street and Binh Duong Ward Central Park, creating a unified and vibrant festival night for the new Ho Chi Minh City.

Meanwhile, in the old Binh Duong area, in addition to high-altitude fireworks, Ho Chi Minh City will organize many cultural and artistic activities with the participation of many famous artists.
