The Department of Agriculture and Environment works with commune leaders on agricultural production and flood prevention and control.
According to local reports, nearly 4,000 hectares of Autumn-Winter rice have been sown, most of which are in the seedling and tillering stages. Farmers are currently preparing the land for planting. The irrigation system is basically guaranteed, helping farmers to be proactive in regulating water and protecting crops when upstream floods are rising.
However, there are still about 60 hectares of rice of Vinh Phat Agricultural Cooperative (Vinh Thanh commune) located in a weak dike area, at risk of being affected when the water rises, and need to be reinforced soon.
The working group inspected the Autumn-Winter rice production situation in Vinh Thanh commune.
Through field inspections and working with commune leaders, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh highly appreciated the proactive and positive spirit of localities in implementing production as well as flood prevention and control work.
Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh emphasized that in addition to taking advantage of timely sowing to ensure productivity, localities need to pay more attention to the management and operation of electric pumping systems, regularly checking dikes and canals, especially at vulnerable locations.
The delegation also acknowledged the difficulties and recommendations of the localities. The delegation said that it will closely coordinate with relevant sectors to advise on timely support solutions; at the same time, it noted that localities should encourage farmers to promote the application of technical advances in production, contributing to improving productivity and increasing farmers' income./.
