Focus on completing the province's traffic infrastructure

BDK - In recent years, in the province, the road traffic infrastructure system has developed strongly, in a modern direction, with a focus on key points, focusing on projects with connectivity, spreading, creating momentum for socio-economic development. Project No. 05-DA/TU issued by the Provincial Party Committee has created momentum for the development of traffic and logistics in the province.

Investment in many projects

After 5 years of implementing Project No. 05-DA/TU dated January 29, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee on investment in construction, development of transport infrastructure and logistics services to serve the socio -economic development of the province in the period of 2020 - 2025 and vision to 2030, Party committees and authorities from the province to the grassroots have paid attention and organized the implementation to achieve results. Thereby, creating positive changes in the awareness, responsibility and actions of cadres, party members and people, creating high consensus in implementation.

In implementing Project No. 05-DA/TU, on April 22, 2022, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Decision No. 428-QD/TU on strengthening the Steering Committee for propaganda and mobilization work to implement key projects and works in the province in the period of 2021 - 2025. For each specific project and work, a Propaganda and Mobilization Subcommittee will be established to organize propaganda work, explain to people the benefits of the work to create consensus and agreement in compensation and site clearance for construction works. The planning and plan for developing transport infrastructure are integrated into the Provincial Planning for the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1399/QD-TTg dated November 17, 2023.

In recent years, the road traffic infrastructure system has developed strongly, in a modern, focused, key direction, focusing on projects that are connected, widespread, and create momentum for socio-economic development. The local traffic system is connected to the national traffic system and neighboring areas through existing national highways (QL) such as: QL.60, QL.57, QL.57B, QL.57C. The province has implemented and completed many key projects and works such as: Project to upgrade QL.57 from Dinh Khao ferry to Mo Cay town. Upgrade QL.57B from the road to Rach Mieu bridge to Giao Long Industrial Park. Project DH.173 from Chau Thanh district martyrs cemetery to the monument of Battalion 516 (provincial road 883). Phase 1 - Project to build a dike to prevent saltwater intrusion combined with a road connecting Binh Dai - Ba Tri - Thanh Phu districts (provincial road 881); Rach Vong bridge...

The province is implementing key projects and works, including: Rach Mieu 2 Bridge Project. Access road project to Rach Mieu 2 Bridge. Road combined with dike to prevent saltwater intrusion between Mo Cay Nam - Thanh Phu districts (DH.17 project). Phase 2 - Project to build dike to prevent saltwater intrusion combined with road connecting coastal districts Binh Dai - Ba Tri - Thanh Phu. Road from Giao Long port to Phu Thuan Industrial Park (DT.DK.07). Ba Lai 8 Bridge project on the coastal road.

Statistics on capital allocation plans for projects and works show that the total investment capital in the period of 2020 - 2025 is 28,967 billion VND. Of which, completed and basically completed projects and works are about 4,148 billion VND; projects and works under construction and preparing for construction are 11,884 billion VND; projects and works preparing for investment are worth 12,935 billion VND.

Attention to waterways for logistics

The province has large rivers connecting to the East Sea through the main estuaries (Dai estuary, Ba Lai estuary, Ham Luong estuary, Co Chien estuary), upstream to Cambodia; connected with a dense system of canals interwoven with each other, creating an advantage in developing waterway transport, irrigation systems, developing marine economy, garden economy, and trading goods with neighboring provinces. It is known that the Central inland waterway route managing the province has 6 routes, 311.5km long. The local inland waterway route managing 190 routes, 909.25km long.

According to Project No. 05-DA/TU, the project to dredge the Tien River (Cua Dai) channel from Binh Thang estuary to Thua My estuary, Binh Dai district, the Department of Construction is currently reviewing and advising the Provincial People's Committee to submit an adjustment to the project feasibility study report for approval of adjustment according to Decree No. 57/2024/ND-CP dated May 20, 2024 of the Government , as a basis for continuing to implement the next steps of the project (according to the guidance of the Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration in Official Dispatch No. 3801/CĐTND-QLKCHT dated December 18, 2024 on the implementation of inland waterway dredging projects combined with product recovery).

Regarding the dredging and product recovery project on the Ham Luong River, the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) issued Official Dispatch No. 7821/BGTVT-KCHT dated July 23, 2024 and Official Dispatch No. 8301/BGTVT-KCHT dated August 5, 2024, in which the competent authority to implement the project is the Provincial People's Committee and affirmed that the project is eligible for transition. The Department of Transport (now the Department of Construction) has advised and reported to the Provincial People's Committee on the policy of receiving and implementing the project according to regulations. Currently, the Department of Construction is advising on the implementation of the next steps.

In addition, the province is also coordinating with a number of ministries and branches to implement works and projects such as: Construction of Mo Cay bridge on Mo Cay canal under the Project to increase clearance of road bridges crossing national inland waterways - phase 1 (Southern region); Dredging Cho Lach canal, building embankments to protect the banks, constructing Cho Lach 2 bridge, adding a system of waterway signs, drainage culverts and residential roads along Cho Lach canal under the Project to develop waterway corridors and logistics in the Southern region.

Assessing the development of investment in construction, development of transport infrastructure and logistics services to serve the socio-economic development of the province in the period of 2020 - 2025 and vision to 2030, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Ngoc Tam said: "In the past time, the province has implemented many key projects such as Rach Mieu 2 Bridge, Phu Thuan Industrial Park, starting construction of Ba Lai 8 Bridge - starting the coastal road... coordinating with Vinh Long province to start construction of Dinh Khao Bridge in the third quarter of 2025, building key routes, creating momentum for long-term development for the province. This is a premise for the province to develop when merging with the province. Regarding the orientation in the coming time, the province needs to focus on taking advantage of the strengths of the coastal economic zone, connecting with the new province after administrative separation. Promoting investment promotion, expanding space for urban and tourism development".

The province is coordinating and implementing investment procedures for works and projects including: Coastal road project connecting Ben Tre province with Tien Giang province and Tra Vinh province under the DPO Program; Cua Dai bridge project; Co Chien 2 bridge project; North-South road serving Phu Thuan Industrial Park and Phong Nam Industrial Cluster (DT.DK.08); Ba Lai 6 bridge (DT.DK.08); Dinh Khao bridge construction project connecting Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces.
