Storm No. 5 (international name Kajiki) made landfall in the central provinces (focusing on Ha Tinh and Nghe An) from the afternoon until late at night on August 25, causing significant damage to people's property. According to VTC News reporters, after storm No. 5 swept through, many wards of the old Vinh City ( Nghe An Province) fell into devastation with images of uprooted trees scattered all over the streets. In Thanh Vinh, Vinh Phu, and Truong Vinh wards, many old trees were uprooted and fell down by strong winds, obstructing traffic this morning. The roof of a house was blown away by the wind and lies in the middle of the street in the old Vinh city. A car has been crushed by a large tree since last night due to storm winds. The roof in front of the house was blown off and torn off by the wind. Despite being tied down, many trees in Nghe An were still knocked down by the wind. Meanwhile, in Ha Tinh, storm No. 5 raged as it made landfall, causing many houses to collapse, trees to be uprooted, and electric poles to tilt. According to initial statistics, storm No. 5 killed 1 person in Ha Tinh and injured 4 others. Mr. Nguyen Trong Ba (resident of Cam Lac commune) said that on the afternoon of August 25, when the storm hit, there was heavy rain and strong winds. The rain and wind caused the electric pole next to his house to break, and part of the electric wire fell on the roof. "We are very worried now because the electric wire is falling on the roof. I hope the authorities will quickly take measures to fix it so that people can feel secure," said Mr. Ba. In Cam Lac commune, storm No. 5 caused heavy damage. Notably, two 35kV electric poles fell down, and a series of other electric poles were tilted, threatening nearby houses. A restaurant sign was blown down by the wind. Rows of shops at Thien Cam beach, Ha Tinh province were also destroyed by the storm. In Quang Tri , the storm also injured 5 people; thousands of hectares of rice and crops were damaged. Many traffic routes were cut off due to landslides. In Thuong Trach commune, the culvert from Ca Roong 1 village to Ca Roong 2 village is flooded about 0.7m; the culvert from Con Roang village to Con Roang village is flooded about 0.5m. In Kim Phu, Kim Dien and Dan Hoa communes, many areas were also deeply flooded and isolated. Heavy rain also caused many mountainous areas in Quang Tri to be at high risk of landslides.
