The two main characters in the movie "I have a disease that makes me like you".

The film is about Diep Tu Kiet (Chiem Hoai Van), a 12th grade bad student who skips school and causes trouble. During a prank, Tu Kiet was injured and hospitalized and was misunderstood to have cancer. While his teachers and friends were feeling sorry for him, Tu Kiet pretended to be sick to avoid being expelled. Unexpectedly, the homeroom teacher assigned his class monitor Diep Tu Khiet (Giang Te) to sit next to him to tutor him in his studies. From arguing, hating, and dealing with his beautiful, intelligent but difficult friend, Tu Kiet gradually realized that he was moved and loved Tu Khiet. However, when Tu Kiet struggled to study and passed the university entrance exam, he also learned the painful truth about his friend. Tu Kiet tried to fulfill all of Tu Khiet's wishes and continued to live for her for the rest of his life so as not to regret anything...

The film has a familiar motif: a couple with opposite personalities, from hate to love, a final year school setting, mixed with laughter and tears; the sad ending leaves the audience with regrets and sorrow. However, viewers are still attracted to the cute, humorous story, the pure, innocent feelings of school age as well as the torment when things do not go as expected. The film's flow is fast, concise and the character's psychological developments are suitable for the plot. The young cast is suitable for the role, acting well, giving the film more life. Above all, the film conveys a humane message about the value of life and health. The audience realizes that, although life has many losses, Tu Kiet still has the opportunity to live well, to fulfill the dreams and ambitions of youth, more than those who have incurable diseases, who can die at any time. Therefore, those who are still healthy, still young, still have opportunities, do not give up on the future, live for yourself and be worthy of the love and expectations of relatives, lovers, friends... Like what Diep Tu Kiet did.

“I have a disease that makes me like you” has been well received by audiences in many Asian countries. This is the next film to make its name in the popular Taiwanese youth school film genre after famous films such as: “Our Girls’ Era”, “First Kiss”, “Want to See You”...

The youth and school-themed films of many countries from Europe, America to Asia have also recorded many popular and high-grossing works. The appeal of youth and school films comes from their ability to evoke memorable emotions and memories of youth, bringing romantic love stories, cute friendships, with humorous and funny details, creating a feeling of relaxation and comfort for viewers. Besides the entertainment factor, the film also conveys meaningful messages about friendship, love, dreams, ambitions and how to overcome difficulties in life. The young, talented and attractive cast is also an important factor in creating the appeal of this film genre.
