On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), in order to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the team of journalists; thereby strengthening solidarity, overcoming all difficulties, competing to successfully complete assigned political tasks; Ethnic and Development Newspaper in collaboration with VietNamNet Newspaper organized the 6th Traditional Open Table Tennis Tournament in 2025.
Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Hoang Mai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Social Affairs; Mr. Le Thanh Son - Deputy Head of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Central Organizing Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Ms. Bui Thi Ha - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ethnic and Development Newspaper; Mr. Le The Vinh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet Newspaper.
There were also leaders of the Office of the National Assembly Party Committee, leaders of press agencies, representatives of units accompanying the tournament, athletes...
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ethnic and Development Newspaper, said that this tournament is an opportunity for journalists to exchange, meet, and expand relationships with agencies and units outside the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs ; with colleagues from other newspapers... thereby enhancing mutual understanding, opening up opportunities for sharing and cooperation, contributing to the successful completion of political and social tasks.
“2025 is the 6th year that the expanded table tennis tournament has been held. With the attention and support of the leaders of the Ethnic Committee, now the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Religion, distinguished guests and press agencies… the scale of the table tennis tournament is growing and developing.
This year's tournament gathered 40 athletes from the following units: Office of the National Assembly Party Committee, Central Organizing Committee, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Ethnic and Development Newspaper, VietNamNet Newspaper, Dan Viet Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio... and a number of partner businesses.

With the number and quality of athletes increasing every season, it can be affirmed that this year's tournament continues to contribute dramatic matches, high professional quality in the spirit of honest and noble sportsmanship," Mr. Nguyen Van Phong emphasized.
After the opening ceremony, the matches were exciting and interesting. Final results: First prize in men's doubles went to Phan Huy Thang/Nguyen Minh Anh (Nhan Dan Newspaper), second prize went to Vu Hai/Tran Kien (VOV), third prize went to Tran Manh Hung/Nguyen Manh Linh (VOV).
In the men's singles event, first prize went to Do Duc Dat (Ministry of Finance), second prize went to Dang Quy Hoa (Nhan Dan Newspaper), and third prize went to Nguyen Hoang Khoa of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Ba - Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet Newspaper, and members of the Organizing Committee presented awards to athletes with high achievements. Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, congratulated the tournament on its great success, and hoped that next year's tournament would continue to receive the participation of athletes who are journalists.
“The Organizing Committee thanks the athletes for their efforts and dedication. This is the first time VietNamNet Newspaper has coordinated with the Ethnic and Development Newspaper to organize an open table tennis tournament. I hope that the 2026 tournament will attract a large number of athletes who are journalists. This is also a playground for journalists to interact with each other,” said VietNamNet Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Van Ba.
