What is the fate of Dong A Thanh Hoa Club when the club's president is arrested?

Dong A Thanh Hoa Club will temporarily be jointly managed by Thanh Hoa Football Federation to continue training and competing in V-League 2025-2026.

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has issued an official dispatch responding to the proposal of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province regarding the transfer of management of Dong A Thanh Hoa Club.

Accordingly, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Dau Thanh Tung, assigned the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism to direct the Thanh Hoa Football Federation to closely coordinate with the club's leaders and Dong A Real Estate Group Company Limited to continue to maintain and organize training and competitions for youth teams and the first team, ensuring stable and effective operations and compliance with the regulations of the V-League 2025-2026 Organizing Committee.

In a submission to the Provincial People's Committee on August 29, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that the Thanh Hoa Football Federation take over, manage and operate the club in the immediate future, and advise the province to invite qualified businesses to participate in management, ensuring the long-term operation of the team according to professional football regulations.

Previously, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency issued an emergency arrest warrant and decided to temporarily detain Mr. Cao Tien Doan - Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Dong A Real Estate Group Company Limited - for violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences, according to Article 221 of the Penal Code. Mr. Cao Tien Doan is also the Chairman of Dong A Thanh Hoa Club.

The representative of Mr. Cao Tien Doan's family said that they still maintain the same intention of investing, managing and developing Thanh Hoa football as in the past period. The salary, bonus and living conditions of the players are kept the same, without any changes.

Dong A Thanh Hoa Club, under the leadership of new coach Choi Won Kwon, is currently at the bottom of the 2025-2026 V-League with only 1 point after 3 matches.

Dong A Real Estate Group Company Limited took over Thanh Hoa Club in November 2020 and changed the club's name to Dong A Thanh Hoa to compete from V-League 2021.

Over the past 5 years, Dong A Thanh Hoa Club has achieved great success with 2 consecutive National Cup championships in 2023 and 2023-2024, and a National Super Cup in 2023.
