On August 29, the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Hoa Province Police executed an emergency arrest warrant and temporarily detained Mr. Cao Tien Doan, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Dong A Real Estate Group Company Limited, to investigate the act of "Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" under Article 221 of the 2015 Penal Code.
On the evening of August 28, authorities urgently searched Mr. Doan's residence and workplace after receiving reports of signs of law violations.
Relevant documents and evidence were collected to serve the extended investigation. The arrest warrant and temporary detention decision were approved by the People's Procuracy at the same level.
Immediately, the biggest question was raised: Where will Dong A Thanh Hoa Club, the pride of Thanh Hoa football, go?
In the context of the 2025/2026 season having only gone through three rounds with not very positive results (1 point after 3 matches), the sudden change at the top level has made the public worried.
However, Thanh Hoa province leaders quickly came up with a plan to "save" the team.
The Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to direct the Thanh Hoa Football Federation to coordinate with the Club and Dong A Group to maintain training and competition activities of the teams, ensuring stability and compliance with the regulations of the V.League Organizing Committee.
Mr. Doan's family representative also pledged to provide maximum support so that the club would not be interrupted.
In nearly 5 years of association with Dong A Group, Thanh Hoa Club has made history with 2 National Cups (2023, 2023/2024) and 1 National Super Cup (2023). But now, the team is facing a big turning point.
Provincial leaders are calculating long-term solutions, including inviting capable businesses to take over management to ensure sustainable development.
