On the evening of August 27, the forces participating in the parade and marching at the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (mission A80) conducted a preliminary rehearsal at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi Capital.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and directed the preliminary review program.
Attending the preliminary program were Politburo members: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for the celebration of major holidays and important events of the country; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security.
Also attending were comrade Mai Van Chinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee for celebrating major holidays and important events of the country.
The program began with a torch-lighting ceremony, lighting the pyre - a symbol of the aspirations of the Vietnamese people. The flame was handed over to Lieutenant General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Duc Soat, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, who had an outstanding achievement, shooting down 6 enemy aircraft, becoming one of the heroic pilots of the Vietnam People's Army.
Four groups of ceremonial flags and the parade formation marched into the ceremony platform. Leading the way was the national emblem placed on the Dong Son bronze drum; followed by the Party flag, the national flag; and the procession carrying the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh.
The commander of the Military Flag Group vehicle led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, led the groups representing the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the Militia and Self-Defense Force into the ceremony platform. Next came the honorary group of the three military services; the female military band group; the Army officers group; the Navy officers group; and the Air Defense - Air Force officers group.
The groups: Border Guard officers; Vietnam Coast Guard officers; Logistics-Technical, Defense Industry officers; female Military Medical officers; students of military academies and schools; Electronic Warfare soldiers took turns passing through the stage.
After passing through the stage at Ba Dinh Square, the parade groups split into many directions, passing through the central streets of Hanoi amid the cheers and joy of hundreds of thousands of people on the streets.
Participating in the rehearsal at Ba Dinh Square were three foreign military blocs: Russia, Laos and Cambodia.
Military vehicle and artillery formations: Armored tank block, including: T54B, T55, T62, T90, various types of armored vehicles; artillery block, towed artillery block, self-propelled artillery, rocket artillery, surface-to-surface missiles.
Naval vehicles: Surface-to-sea missiles and radars produced in Vietnam; anti-aircraft artillery vehicles, anti-aircraft missiles, anti-aircraft missiles and UAVs; mobile military information vehicles; electronic warfare; special equipment vehicles of the military branches... after passing the ceremony platform, all headed towards the streets of the capital.
Immediately after the preliminary review program, the Central Steering Committee organized a review session for relevant agencies and units.
The State-level rehearsal of the Anniversary is expected to take place on the morning of August 30.
