This year's exam will take place over 3 days (June 25, 26, 27), of which June 25 is the day for exam registration procedures. The total number of candidates registered for the exam is 1,165,289, an increase of nearly 100,000 compared to 2024. Of which, 1,138,579 candidates follow the 2018 GeneralEducation Program (97.71%) and 26,711 candidates follow the 2006 General Education Program (2.29%).

The exam was held at 2,493 testing locations with a total of 50,039 testing rooms, mobilizing about 200,000 officials, teachers, staff and functional forces to participate.

This morning, from 7:30, candidates will officially take the first exam, literature, for 120 minutes. This is the first time the high school graduation exam for literature will be written outside of the curriculum and textbooks.

Special high school graduation exam

The 2025 high school graduation exam takes place in a special context, being the first exam to apply the new general education program issued in 2018, while still being organized for candidates according to the 2006 general education program.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will be organized into 3 sessions, 1 session shorter than previous exams, including 1 session for literature, 1 session for math and 1 session for elective exams. Candidates will be arranged according to elective exams to optimize exam rooms and scores.

Another special point is that this year's exam has 2 types of exam questions. 12th graders will take the exam with questions according to the 2018 General Education Program. Independent candidates who have not graduated from the old program will take the exam with questions according to the 2006 General Education Program.

Notably, the exam took place right before the two-level local government system came into operation on July 1. The exam was organized by three-level local governments, but the exam marking and announcement of exam results were done by two-level local governments.

Ensuring all conditions of facilities, human resources, and materials for the exam to take place safely, seriously, and effectively according to the direction of the Prime Minister .
