Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/08/2023

Unlike other areas in the Northwest, Sa Pa only has one rice crop per year and the harvest season will start from mid-August to the end of September. The rice harvest season in Sa Pa is also scattered according to location and weather every year. This year, the rice fields in Nam Cang, about 50 km from the town center, ripened early, weaving golden carpets across the valley.

Looking at the majestic mountain scenery, many people think of "an Alps" in the heart of Sa Pa. However, it is familiar and imbued with the Northwest character because of the terraced fields hugging the mountainside. Layer after layer of terraced fields with lush green and golden ripening, stretching to the horizon, surrounded by majestic mountain ranges and high blue sky, creating a spacious and poetic picture.

The terraced fields are a harmonious combination of the beauty of nature and the ingenuity and diligence of many generations of local people.

The terraced fields in Sa Pa were formed by the cultivation of local ethnic minorities hundreds of years ago. Due to the uneven terrain, they carved the mountain slopes into terraces, then brought water from the high mountains to grow rice. Therefore, the fields here are a harmonious combination of the beauty of nature and the ingenuity and diligence of many generations of local people.

Indian newspaper India Times praises terraced fields in Sa Pa as a spectacular scene

That beauty is the reason why the Indian newspaper India Times praised the terraced fields in Sa Pa as a spectacular and iconic scene of tourism in the Northwest highlands, positioned on the world tourism map. Meanwhile, Channel News Asia suggested Sa Pa as one of the 10 ideal destinations to avoid the heat in Asia, not only because of the cool weather but also because of the peaceful villages, beautiful terraced fields and hidden cultural stories.

Besides walking, visitors choose the “bird’s eye view” to admire the spectacular rice season scenery of Sa Pa on the cable car to the sacred peak of Fansipan. The summer sun shines through the clouds, creating streaks of light and dark that embellish the majestic scenery of Hoang Lien Son mountains and forests and the green valleys of new rice.

In particular, when coming to the sacred peak of Fansipan at an altitude of 3,143m, visitors feel like they are walking in a "fairyland", where heaven and earth meet. The cool weather in the middle of summer and the white cloud village wrap around the feet. Conquering Fansipan peak, walking on the paths along the mountain and worshiping the solemn spiritual complex, visitors will return to the embrace of Mother Nature, temporarily putting aside the hustle and bustle of life.

In August, more than 2 hectares of single-flowered rice flowers began to bloom brilliantly on the sacred peak of Fansipan. This is a flower species that Sun World Fansipan Legend painstakingly imported and successfully cultivated on the peak of Fansipan, where previously only dwarf bamboo and rhododendrons clung. The orange-red color of single-flowered rice flowers shines brightly in the autumn sun like brocade, embroidering flowers on the deep blue sky of the “Roof of Indochina”.
