Quang Nam withdrew from the tournament, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai refused, will PVF be promoted to V-League?

(NLDO) - Quang Nam has confirmed its withdrawal from the 2025-2026 V-League. VPF and VFF are trying to recruit a team from the First Division to replace them, but one of them has refused.

On the evening of August 1, Quang Nam Club confirmed its withdrawal from the new season and chose to merge the first team, youth training center and office block with Da Nang Club. This move came after many unsuccessful attempts to find sponsors, although at least two businesses were willing to invest about 100 billion VND to "rescue" the Quang Nam team.

Quang Nam Club has decided not to participate in V-League 2025-2026, nor transfer its place to any other team. Meanwhile, according to a source from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club (the new name of Binh Phuoc Club last season) has refused to replace Quang Nam's position in V-League.

Dong Nai FC was close to promotion last season but failed to beat Da Nang in the play-off. Now, they have been investing heavily to be determined and hopeful for the new season, with the desire to be promoted through the official route, not an exceptional title.

With only about two weeks left until the start of the 2025-2026 V-League, VPF and VFF are forced to come up with other plans to ensure the number of participating teams.

The VFF Executive Committee has asked for members’ opinions on promoting a team from the First Division to replace them, including Truong Tuoi Dong Nai and PVF-CAND. However, the Southeast team has officially refused this promotion.

PVF-CAND is likely to be promoted after many seasons of hard work in the First Division. Now, VPF is working hard with PVF-CAND in the hope that next season's V-League will ensure enough players.

However, this will only be possible if the team agrees to be promoted from the addition of VFF and VPF. Because according to the plan announced by VFF, the teams invited to be promoted have the right to refuse and are not required to participate.

If that happens, the 2025-2026 V-League will still face the risk of lacking teams, forcing the tournament organizers to continue considering other backup plans, or starting with only 13 teams.
