On September 11, the District 11 Cultural - Sports Center coordinated with the DistrictEducation - Training Department and District 11 Youth Union to organize the opening of the training course "First aid and safety skills in water environment" in 2024. The class was held at the District Cultural - Sports Center with the participation of more than 270 students from schools, public service units and departments in the district.
The class is supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Aquatic Sports Federation and Phu Tho Swimming and Diving Club.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO), each year more than 236,000 people die from drowning worldwide, of which Vietnam is one of the countries with a very high drowning rate with nearly 2,000 children dying. This drowning rate is 10 times higher than that of developed countries.
Drowning has therefore become a hot issue of public concern. Children are naturally active and curious, and most of them do not know how to swim, as well as lack knowledge and skills to prevent drowning; lack of management from family and adults. The surrounding living environment also always has lurking risk factors, lack of safety.

To make drowning no longer a social problem, no longer a pain for families, skill training classes like the one conducted by the District 11 Culture and Sports Center are for everyone and every family to be proactive in preventing accidents, preventing drowning, updating and supplementing knowledge on self-prevention of accidents in the water environment; promoting the benefits and effects of practicing swimming, and acquiring safety skills.
Students of the class are required to attend all knowledge sessions as well as practice sessions at Phu Tho Diving Club to be granted a graduation certificate.
