Travel and Tour World, an India-based travel information site, has selected the most beautiful routes for travelers who love to explore the world's roads.
America is the birthplace of the modern road trip. Its vast network of highways, diverse landscapes, and car culture have made it the world’s most iconic long-distance travel destination. Generations of travelers have traveled along coastal roads, desert highways, and mountain roads to explore America, each with its own story of history, geography, and culture.
California's Pacific Coast Highway , also known as Highway 1, is one of the most famous driving routes in America, stretching from San Diego to San Francisco and beyond.

On the East Coast, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive are some of the most scenic mountain roads in the country. They connect Shenandoah National Park in Virginia with the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina. The 460-mile journey is especially famous for its fall foliage, when the trees turn red, yellow and orange.

Perhaps no road is more legendary than Route 66 , also known as the “Mother Road,” which ran more than 2,400 miles from Chicago to Santa Monica. It represents the golden age of the American automobile. Today, parts of the original route are preserved as historic roads.

Florida’s Overseas Highway runs from Key Largo to Key West, spanning over 110 miles and crossing 42 bridges. The Seven Mile Bridge is a highlight, with turquoise waters on either side. Drivers pass coral reefs, fishing villages and beaches. Winter and spring are the most beautiful times, often described as a highway floating on the sea.

Meanwhile, Asia offers a very different but equally impressive road trip experience. The continent is vast and diverse, with roads connecting towering mountains, tropical coastlines, island circles and cultural sites. Driving in Asia requires careful planning, but the rewards are huge.
Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island, is a road trip paradise. Popular routes include the Shiretoko Peninsula and Mikuni Pass. Matsumi Bridge (pictured) at Mikuni Pass on the Nukabira Expressway is 1,139 metres (3,600 ft) high, and driving through it in summer is a landscape of deep green giant trees, while in autumn it is a sea of colourful autumn leaves.

For adventure seekers, the Manali-Leh Highway and the Srinagar-Leh Highway in Ladakh, India, are must-do routes. They cross some of the highest motorable mountain passes in the world. The highway climbs to over 5,000 m in elevation and is only open from late spring to early fall, as the passes are blanketed in snow in winter.

In northern Thailand, the famous Mae Hong Son Loop runs 600km from Chiang Mai through Pai, Mae Hong Son and Mae Sariang, including thousands of bends through mountains, jungles and villages.

The Arabian Peninsula also offers some spectacular driving routes, combining desert landscapes with rugged mountain peaks. Oman's Jebel Shams and Jabal Akhdar roads lead up to majestic canyons, while in the UAE, the Jebel Jais mountain road is a popular weekend road trip.

Hai Van Pass, Vietnam
The Hai Van Pass is a short but extremely popular road for bikers, connecting Da Nang and Hue. The pass winds through majestic mountains with views of the East Sea. Mist often adds a mystical beauty to the landscape. Many visitors combine the pass with stops in Hoi An and the beaches, with the total route being around 150km, making it a perfect day trip.
Hai Van Pass is 20 km long and 500 m above sea level.
