Chelsea earns a lot of money from selling players

Chelsea will earn £250m from player sales, a record amount in the club's history once the deal for Renato Veiga to Villarreal is completed.

According to Sky Sports , Chelsea have agreed to sell Renato Veiga to Villarreal for a fee that could rise to £26 million, bringing the total amount of money "The Blues" earned from selling players this summer to over £250 million.

The 22-year-old defender is expected to sign a five-year contract with Villarreal and will undergo a medical in Spain this week. The Portuguese international's successful sale to Villarreal reflects Chelsea's shrewdness in their transfer strategy.

They will make a significant profit from the deal, with Veiga being bought from Basel for just £12m in 2024. Veiga was on loan at Juventus last season.

The sale of Veiga will take Chelsea's total revenue from the 11 players who left this summer to £251.7m, the highest of any club in Europe's top five leagues. It also almost equals the £277m Chelsea spent on nine new players in recent times.

The Blues' major player sales this summer include Noni Madueke moving to Arsenal (£52m), Joao Felix joining Al-Nassr (£43.7m), or Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall moving to Everton (£28m).

With funds flowing from player sales, Chelsea are still aiming to add players before the summer transfer window closes, with Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho and RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons targeted.

At the same time, the team is also trying to liquidate a number of other players, including Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi, to optimize the salary fund and squad.
