(CLO) A 25-year-old man in China was arrested after boasting that his grandmother gave him 180 million yuan in cash (about 634 million VND) for his birthday, but was later found to be lying.

On October 5, the young man posted videos showing off luxury cars, jewelry, and antiques on his Douyin account @dongdonganan. He also commented on another user's post, claiming that his grandmother gave him 180 million yuan on his 20th birthday.

Facing skepticism from the online community, he posted a screenshot of his bank account, which showed savings of 2.4 billion yuan (about 8,446 billion VND).

He also shared an appointment letter for a family member, claiming it was issued by China's State Council, along with an old group photo of People's Liberation Army officials, implying that he has a relative holding a high-ranking position.

On October 31, cyber police in Guizhou Province, southwest China, revealed that a young man surnamed Tian had forged assets, edited photos to attract followers, and profited from online gambling. Authorities announced that he was arrested for disturbing public order and violating cyberspace regulations, as well as engaging in online gambling.
