5-hour surgery to reattach severed foot for female patient

On April 9, the Central Highlands General Hospital ( Dak Lak ) announced that the hospital had successfully performed surgery to reattach the severed foot of a female patient who was involved in a traffic accident.

Previously, in the early morning of April 8, Ms. PTP (28 years old, residing in Buon Don District, Dak Lak) and her husband were traveling on a road in this district when an accident occurred with a tractor.

The patient was admitted to the Central Highlands General Hospital with a diagnosis of multiple injuries, liver contusion, lung contusion, right leg amputation, right humerus fracture, and upper end radius fracture. After performing the necessary procedures, the patient was quickly taken to the emergency operating room.

Successful surgery to reattach the patient's foot

According to a leader of the Orthopedic Trauma Department, Central Highlands General Hospital, the patient was admitted with a severed right leg and a crushed wound, making surgery difficult.

During the surgery, the doctors had to shorten the bones, blood vessels and tendons to be able to suture the blood vessels, tendons, nerves and bones of the patient's foot. The surgery lasted 5 hours, and the patient received 4 units of blood.

After 24 hours of surgery, the patient's leg is now warm and pink, the instep pulse is palpable, and the toes can be moved. Currently, blood circulation is stable, and the patient's health is gradually recovering.
