Launching a campaign to support the Cuban people

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - On the morning of August 13, the National Launching Ceremony of the Program to Support the Cuban People with the theme "65 Years of Vietnam - Cuba Friendship" was held in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (1960-2025) and the implementation of activities in the "Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025".

The program is organized by the Vietnam Red Cross Society in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Central Youth Union, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association, Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam , Vietnam News Agency, and Nhan Dan Newspaper.

Attending the launching ceremony were comrades Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense ; Tran Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; representatives of leaders of agencies of the National Assembly, central departments, ministries, branches, associations and organizations; representatives of international organizations in Vietnam.

The launching ceremony was connected from the Central Party Committee Headquarters and Central mass organizations (Hanoi) to 33 provincial and municipal mass organizations. Attending the Thanh Hoa mass organization were representatives of departments, agencies, units, mass organizations and localities in the province.

In his opening speech and launching the Program, Comrade Nguyen Hai Anh, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC), affirmed that the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has always been preserved and nurtured by generations of leaders of the Party, State and People of the two countries, and has increasingly developed strongly and "blossomed" in all fields. The relationship between the two countries has become a model of international solidarity, an immortal and rare symbol in the history of international relations.

65 years ago, in 1960, when Vietnam was in the midst of its arduous resistance war against the US, Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. In the “land of fire” Quang Tri, leader Fidel Castro once again affirmed his immortal statement: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its own blood!”

In 2025, the two countries will organize the “Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year”, celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1960-2025). Within the framework of the friendship year, the Cuban People's Support Program will be implemented to mobilize resources to support the Cuban people in terms of medical supplies, necessities and sustainable development cooperation areas, contributing to helping the Cuban people overcome difficulties caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters and blockade and embargo policies.

With the message "Vietnam - Cuba: Forever side by side in challenges - Sharing in hardships" and "Always have Vietnam", the Vietnam Red Cross Society calls on the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, departments, ministries, branches, socio-political organizations, unions, provinces, cities, agencies, units, enterprises, all cadres, civil servants, public employees, officers, soldiers, workers, students, and compatriots at home and abroad to actively respond to and support the Program, contributing to further beautifying the image of a loyal, affectionate, steadfast, sharing and compassionate Vietnam.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, affirmed that this is an event of profound political, social and diplomatic significance on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba; demonstrating the consistent spirit of the Party, State and People of Vietnam with Cuba on the path of national independence and socialism.

The program to support the Cuban people not only aims at providing material support but also strongly spreads the message of sharing, empathy and international solidarity, affirming that in any circumstance, the Vietnamese people will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Cuban people.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front hopes that the Red Cross Society will call on all levels, sectors, business communities, individuals in the country and those living abroad, and all classes of Vietnamese people to provide material and spiritual support to the Cuban people through practical actions, helping the friendly country stabilize its life and continue to develop the country.
