RT reported that US Congressman Buddy Carter nominated President Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, emphasizing his role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran after nearly two weeks of fighting.
In a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Republican congressman Earl “Buddy” Carter nominated US President Donald Trump for his “extraordinary and historic” role in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran.
“President Trump’s influence played a key role in creating a quick deal that many thought was impossible,” reads the letter from Congressman Earl “Buddy” Carter.
"President Trump has taken bold, decisive actions to stop Iran's nuclear ambitions," Mr. Carter emphasized.
President Trump announced that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire on June 24, three days after the US launched a massive airstrike on Iran's Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan nuclear facilities.
According to President Trump, these nuclear facilities have been "completely destroyed". However, Tehran denies this, and at the same time rules out the possibility of giving up its civilian nuclear program.
Earlier, Pakistan also nominated President Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, citing his contributions in mediating an end to the conflict between Pakistan and India.
