Omoda C5 is no longer a strange name to Vietnamese consumers in particular and Southeast Asia in general. Malaysia is the first Southeast Asian market to welcome Omoda C5. However, Indonesia is the market that Chery chose to introduce the upgraded version of this Chinese car model. The upgraded version of Omoda C5 in the Indonesian market has been unexpectedly renamed Chery C5. In other words, Chery has completely eliminated the sub-brand Omoda. The new Chery C5 in Indonesia has the same design as the upgraded version that was launched in the Russian market since September 2024.
The car has a new front design with sharp arrow-shaped LED daytime running lights similar to the Omoda E5 electric car model. These two light strips are connected by a black strip with embossed Omoda lettering, although this brand has been officially removed. The front bumper of the Chery C5 2025 is redesigned in an X shape. Meanwhile, the chrome grille of the old version has been replaced with diamond-shaped blocks, painted in the same color as the body. The rear of the car has not changed and still retains the Omoda embossed lettering as the front. Instead, Chery only renewed the wheel design. The standard version of this B-size SUV uses 17-inch wheels while the highest-end version is equipped with 18-inch wheels. The panoramic sunroof is also only for the highest-end version. In addition, the red details around the car and on the wheel rims have been removed. Inside, the Chery C5 retains the old design. Chery only upgraded the equipment with a super-efficient PM 0.3 air filter and Internet Of Vehicle (IOV) connectivity. Meanwhile, the ADAS advanced driving assistance package of the Chery C5 2025 adds traffic jam driving assistance and an intelligent collision avoidance system.
Under the hood of the new Chery C5 is the same 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, producing a maximum capacity of 145 horsepower and a maximum torque of 230 Nm. The gearbox has been upgraded to a 6-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic instead of the old CVT. In some other markets, this B-size SUV also has a turbocharged engine option, 1.6L capacity, 197 horsepower, combined with a 7-speed DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission. The remaining change of the Chery C5 2025 in the Indonesian market is the suspension system. Accordingly, the rear suspension system is upgraded from torsion beam to multi-link, for smoother operation. In the Indonesian market, the new Chery C5 is priced from 319.9 - 349.9 million Rupiah (about 505 - 553 million VND). The car comes with a special promotion program, including a 10-year or 1 million km engine warranty; a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty; free maintenance and spare parts repair for 4 years or 60,000 km, whichever comes first.
After Indonesia, the new version of Omoda C5 may continue to launch in other Southeast Asian markets such as Vietnam. Although not a great success in China, Omoda C5 has received positive reception in the international and Southeast Asian markets. In Vietnam, this model has also been warmly welcomed by users because of its "soft" price and many attractive after-sales policies.
