Motorola Razr 2025 Plus is a worthy rival to Galaxy Z Flip

The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus is a foldable phone with a beautiful design, large screen and stable performance, an attractive, high-end choice at a reasonable price.

In recent years, foldable phones are no longer a luxury item but have gradually become more popular with many different price ranges. In this race, Motorola - a legendary name in the mobile industry has shown a strong comeback with the Razr line, especially the newly launched Motorola Razr 2025 Plus version.

Motorola Razr 2025 Plus still retains the 3 familiar color versions from the previous generation, including Mocha Mousse, Midnight Blue and Hot Pink. Of which, Mocha Mousse is the color chosen by Pantone as the color of 2025, both trendy and individual. The device meets IP48 water and dust resistance standards, meaning it can be waterproof equivalent to the old version but now has the added ability to resist dust particles larger than 1 mm.

The big plus this year is the hinge. Motorola says it has reinforced the hinge with titanium instead of just stainless steel as before. The actual feel of opening and closing the device shows that the structure is solid, not loose, holds at many angles and creates a clear "joint" when fully opened and closed.

The frame is made of 6000 series aluminum, beautifully polished. The outer secondary screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, which is both hard and scratch-resistant. This is also a big difference between the Plus version and the standard version. The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus has a secondary screen that covers almost the entire top half of the front, while the regular version only has a small strip and looks much simpler.

The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus has a truly impressive display on both the main and cover screens. The size and proportions of the 6.9-inch LTPO OLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2640 provide a sufficient experience for tasks, but the 165Hz refresh rate is the highlight. At the moment, most folding phones will have 120Hz screens, but this device even has two 165Hz screens, creating outstanding smoothness.

In real-world testing, the Motorola Razr 2025 Plus' main display reaches around 1200 nits in bright light, which is on par with the regular version but slightly lower than the Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip6. The Razr Plus' secondary display can go up to 1200 nits.

This year, the Razr line has many changes in the camera, but the Motorola Razr 2025 Plus retains the same hardware as the 2024 version. This is understandable because last year's version had quite a strong upgrade, and in fact it is also the foundation of the Razr 50 Ultra model, so Motorola does not necessarily need to innovate further.

It shares the same main sensor as the Razr 2025 – a 50-megapixel sensor with a 1.95-inch pixel size, paired with a 25mm f/1.7 lens with optical image stabilization. It’s not a flagship camera, but it’s good enough for most everyday photography needs. The Plus version’s main selling point is the addition of a 2x telephoto camera, which translates to a focal length of around 47 to 50mm.

The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus reuses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip that appeared on last year's generation. Although it is called a high-end chip, it is actually just a mid-high-end line with average performance. However, it is still significantly stronger than the Dimensity 7400 on the regular version and of course far inferior to the Snapdragon 8 Elite equipped on the Ultra version.

The surface temperature during long-term use is up to about 48 degrees Celsius. Although quite high, the hot spots are concentrated in areas with little hand contact, so it is still within acceptable limits.

The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus runs Android 15 with Hello UI. It is promised to receive 3 major OS updates and 4 years of security updates. This is a pretty good software support period, although it is still not as good as the high-end Galaxy devices. Overall, Motorola's software still retains the clean Android style, but has added a lot of unique customizations in the right places.

The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus uses a 4,000 mAh battery, which sounds a bit modest compared to the phone market in 2025. In fact, this capacity is even lower than the regular version (4,500 mAh) and even lower than the Ultra version (4,700 mAh), but is equivalent to the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The device supports fast charging with a maximum capacity of 45W, higher than the regular version which only supports 30W, but still less than the Ultra version which can charge up to 68W. However, unfortunately, the device does not come with a charger in the box. In the test, I used the genuine 68W charger and a third-party charger with a capacity of 100W, the results were almost the same.

The Motorola Razr 2025 Plus is a worthy choice if you love a foldable phone with a luxurious design, a large secondary screen, and a modern software interface. The device offers a smooth user experience, integrating both Moto AI and Google Gemini, along with many useful smart features.
