According to RT , on January 2, Ghanaian businesswoman Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum (33 years old) announced that she was preparing to submit a dossier to the Guinness World Records Organization to confirm the record of singing continuously without stopping for 126 hours and 52 minutes.
The current world record is 105 hours, set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare in 2012.
The Ghanaian businesswoman began performing in the capital Accra on the night of December 24, 2023 and stopped on December 29, 2023.

Throughout the singing session, Ms. Asantewaa performed local songs non-stop, with cheers from Ghanaians, including former President John Dramani Mahama and current Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia. Since December 24, 2023, crowds have gathered at the park called "Akwaaba Village" in the capital Accra to watch Ms. Asantewaa attempt to set the record.
Ms. Asantewaa’s efforts come as Ghana aims to attract more tourists and promote its culture, including music . Earlier this month, the Ghanaian government launched a visa program for tourists visiting during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has also appointed 33-year-old businessman Asantewaa as the African nation's tourism ambassador.
"This is a commendable effort to promote national culture. The new position allows Asantewaa to leverage her personal capacity and work closely with the government to attract international tourists," said a representative of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
