Moon So Ri came to the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) for the first time in 2023 and was very impressed with Vietnamese cinema.

She once shared with the media: “Among Asian countries, Vietnamese cinema left a deep impression on me. I know it will not be easy for Vietnamese cinema to spread and make an impression in Korea, but you can exploit many different aspects. I believe that one day soon, you can bring Vietnamese cinema to Korea as well as to Asia.”

Two years later, Moon So Ri returned to DANAFF III, accompanied by her husband, director Jang Joon-hwan, who is the President of the Jury of the Asian Film category competing in DANAFF III. Their reunion in Da Nang promises to bring many interesting stories in the journey of dialogue between Korean and Vietnamese cinema, between artists and audiences.

Moon So Ri is one of the most prominent actresses in contemporary Korean cinema. She debuted to international audiences with her role in Lee Chang-dong’s “Oasis,” a daring and challenging role as a disabled woman with a complex inner life. This role earned her the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actress at the 2002 Venice Film Festival, marking a brilliant milestone in her film career.

Moon So Ri continues to affirm her acting skills through a series of art films such as "A Good Lawyer's Wife", "The Handmaiden", "The Running Actress", "Three Sisters" and most recently "When Life Gives You Tangerines".

Moon So Ri has also continued to expand her artistic roles, from actress, screenwriter, director to university lecturer. She is also the first Korean actress to serve as a jury member at the prestigious Venice Film Festival.

Returning to DANAFF III, Moon So Ri brings with her life and art experiences, meeting and interacting with Vietnamese audiences. Moon So Ri's appearance promises to be a highlight of this year's Film Festival. DANAFF III is not simply a film screening event, but is gradually becoming a space connecting art and the public, between cultures and generations.

The 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) will officially take place from June 29 to July 5 in Da Nang city.
