Efforts to preserve and promote the close and close cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos

On September 1, in Tianjin (China), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

In a friendly atmosphere, the Prime Minister affirmed that the presence of the Lao General Secretary and President and the Lao high-ranking delegation at the upcoming ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day on September 2 demonstrates the close and loyal sentiments between the two countries.

Congratulating Laos on its achievements in stabilizing the macro- economy and controlling inflation, the Prime Minister expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party headed by Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, Laos will continue to reap even greater successes in successfully implementing the Resolutions of the 11th National Congress and successfully organizing the 12th National Congress of the Party.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his honor to attend Vietnam's important celebration on the occasion of September 2; and was pleased to announce that the Lao Party, State and people had just held a rally to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day on August 30 in Vientiane with the participation of a large number of Lao people.

The Lao General Secretary and President affirmed that Laos will continue to make efforts to preserve and promote close and close cooperative relations with Vietnam.

Having in-depth discussions on specific areas of cooperation, the two leaders agreed to:

Promote the implementation of good results achieved during recent high-level visits, make efforts to completely resolve stuck and pending projects; coordinate in building mechanisms and preferential policies to encourage border trade, expand the list of preferential tariffs, and promote border trade infrastructure connectivity.

The two sides will strengthen cooperation in the fields of mineral exploration and survey, information technology, telecommunications, and digital transformation; and increase the exchange of positions on issues of strategic significance to the interests of both sides.

The two sides continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially cooperation within ASEAN and the United Nations; make the most of resources from appropriate international partners to serve the socio-economic development of each country as well as cooperation between the two countries.
